>ole Feels Mad Love For Dr. Alex Tsisserev

Thanks to the new multi-year admin agreement ole has signed with Vancouver-based Mad Love Music, we have a doctor in the house.

"A doctor in the house for all your musical emergencies," chimes in Mad Love principal Dr. Alex Tsisserev (pronounced "Siss-se-rev.")

He's not joking.

As well as earning a doctorate in Music Education and landing a day job as a professor at Nanaimo, B.C.'s Malaspina University, Dr. Tsisserev is fully accomplished as a composer in the fields of contemporary dance music  (Soluna's Top 10 Billboard dance track "Monday Mi Amor"), and dance performance for the National Ballet Of Canada, Ballet British Columbia and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet; R&B and urban pop ex-Dreamworks recording artist Dave Hollister; international pop Lava/Atlantic recording act Cherie, Sony Asia's Xiao Xiao, Atlantic U.K.'s Kevin Lyttle, A&M's Terry Dexter and Zomba's Tarkan; film (Disney's The Hot Chick, Nickelodeon's Lizzie McGuire, The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) and advertising spots Future Shop, Uniglobe Travel and Ketel One Vodka.

In other words, he can do it all.

"I think the more diverse you are in the current music industry, the more likely you are to make noise in just about every genre," says Dr. Tsisserev, B.Mus., B.Ed, M. Ed., Ed.D.

In joining ole, Tsisserev wants to generate plenty of noise.

It's the reason he cold-called ole in the first place.

"I did make the first call," Tsisserev admits.

"I was signed to Sony in Asia and signed to Warner Chappell in Europe, and when I realized I wasn't going to be an artist, but was going to be a writer -- because that's where all my strengths were and I got these publishing deals --nothing had really changed, because I was now at the bottom of a brand new food chain.

"I was competing with 50 other Warner writers and 30 other Sony writers, and I felt like nobody had any idea about what I could do. I was getting lost in the shuffle."

"I figured that if I could be one of 10 writers, where I could bring something to the table that other writers weren't -- I'd feel like a much more valuable member of the team, " he reasons.

"(ole Managing Partner) Robert Ott has a great reputation. Me being Canadian, and Robert also having been with a Canadian major (BMGMP) who was actually a global major, and having had the balls to start his own venture, I really appreciated that."

Tsisserev had also worked previously with his friend Sean Mulligan, currently ole's Director, US Film, TV & Media when Mulligan was at Media Creature Music and was impressed by other ole staffers' accomplishments.

"It's a small roster that thinks big, and I can have great conversations with these folks and they'll know exactly what I can do. And I won't fall through the cracks."

ole is also thrilled to recruit Dr. Tsisserev and his Mad Love Music group of writers to its roster.

"We were able to work really easily together," says ole Creative Manager Elizabeth Spear, who negotiated the Mad Love deal.

"He is such a go-getter, it's unbelievable.  He's so passionate and driven and it's really, really great to work with somebody, who, with no prompting, just says 'Great, I'll get that for you right away.'

"We started off with an initial 60 tracks and he's already given us some new ones. So far it's really good - and it's very diverse music, too. He doesn't pigeonhole himself - he's got some hip-hop tracks, some Latin tracks, rock, pop, AC -- there are even some classical cues in there as well."

For his part, Dr. Tsisserev says Spear has already pitched his services for a number of projects -- a sign that bodes well for the partnership.

"I want to focus less on doing my own admin and my own shopping and spend much more time in the studio, because creatively, that's where I excel," Tsisserev explains.

"I'm not really a business person. And if I spend more time in the studio, I can really immerse myself in my true passion, which is writing and producing good music and working with other talented folks.

Tsisserev knows that music is a game of chance, but also understands that the more people you have rooting for you, the more you increase the odds of victory.

He's looking to ole to help him increase those odds.

“My objective -- just to be doing strictly what I love, as opposed to doing anything else."

Sounds like one doctor who knows how to diagnose the symptoms of success.
