On its face, the formula is simple: take an idyllic Greek island in the Aegean Sea and add 16 world-class songwriters from various parts of the globe. Result? 25 great copyrights, a number of which, if history repeats, will end up on the charts.

The 2013 ole Eurocamp was held from May 6-10 at Black Rock Studios, a combination luxury villa and state-of-the-art recording studio on the island of Santorini, about 120 miles southeast of Greece’s mainland.

“It was a wildly productive songcamp,” says ole Media Manager Julie Moe, who joined ole Creative Director Chad Richardson in overseeing the proceedings, which also included the participation of Alex Wilhelm, Director of A&R for Warner Bros. Records. “The setting was amazing and the songwriters worked beautifully together. Proof of that is in the 25 songs that were created.”

During the camp, Iain Pirie, President of 19 Entertainment and Co-Producer of American Idol, made a Skype call to disccuss the songs he was looking for for American Idol finalists, Kree Harrison and Candice Glover.  ole's Sr. Director of Synchronization and Licensing, Debra Delshad, also had a video conference with the writers to discuss what makes songs work for sync and the upcoming projects that she is working on.

Over the past few years, the ole songcamps have proven to be an effective generator of hits. Two songs written at past ole songcamps are making music news around the world. “Tonight I’m Getting Over You,” a co-write of ole/tanjola songwriter Shiloh and produced by Max Martin, is the current hit single for Carly Rae Jepsen. The song had its beginnings at the 5th annual ole pop+urban songcamp in Los Angeles in 2011. In Korea, K-Pop legend Cho Yong Pil is challenging the chart supremacy of international pop phenomenon Psy (“Gangnam Style”) with the chart topping single “Bounce,” co-written by ole’s Marty Dodson at the 2011 ole Eurocamp in Malmo, Sweden.

ole legacy writer Tebey topped the charts in the U.K. and Japan with the Pixie Lott single, “All About Tonight,” which he co-wrote while in Los Angeles for the 2010 ole pop+urban songcamp. Deandre Brackensick, who was a finalist on Season 11 of American Idol, is set to release “Her Crazy,” a song written at the 2011 ole pop+urban songcamp. Pending are six cuts written at previous camps by a variety of writers, the latest of which is the pending release of the Clare Reynolds co-write with Justin Timberlake collaborator Rob Knoxx, "After All This Time"  by Ivy Quainoo, winner of The Voice Germany,
