Roots Three/ole writer/producer Jeff Coplan can now add a gold album reference to his writing resume as Serena Ryder’s 4th major label album, Harmony, on which he has the co-write, “Mary Go Round,” was recently given that certification in Canada.

Coplan, who last year signed a worldwide co-publishing deal with Roots Three/ole, recently celebrated a #1 song on the Billboard Country Song chart with the Love and Theft gold single, “Angel Eyes,” which he co-wrote and produced. The duo, whose album debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Top Country Album chart, picked up two CMA Awards nominations last year and were recently nominated in the categories of Vocal Duo of the Year and New Vocal Duo or Group of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, which will be presented on April 7, 2013.

Coplan has been producing and writing with a couple of new signing to Open Road Recordings, including Tim Hicks. Hicks’ debut EP, which Coplan produced in Nashville, can already boast a #1 single on the Canadian Country singles sales chart with the song “Get By,” which was also a Top 30 song in the U.S. Coplan has been working with the Nashville-based duo, Blackjack Billy, whose debut single, “Booze Cruise,” a co-write of Coplan, Noll Billings and Chuck Jones and produced by Coplan, was first released to satellite radio in the U.S. and Canada before going to iTunes and all other digital stores worldwide on March 12, 2013. A video for the song is being shot in Florida in March.

In other news, Roots Three/ole writer/artists Doc Walker, who have just released the single “Put It Into Drive” from their forthcoming studio album due in the stores in the summer, are on the road March 6-25, 2013 with Emerson Drive and special guest Aaron Pritchett, for the CMT Canada presents CMT Hitlist Tour 2013. “Let It Roll,” the single they recorded with Emerson Drive, recently went Top 10 in Canada. ole legacy writer/artist Tebey will join the tour for a number of select dates including Calgary (Mar. 14), Fort MacMurray (Mar. 15) and Saskatoon (Mar. 17).

Doc Walker and fellow Roots Three/ole writer/artist Dean Brody are both nominated in the category of Country Artist or Group of the Year at the 13th annual SiriusXM Independent Music Awards (Indies) to be presented on March 22, 2013 at Kool Haus in Toronto.

Dean Brody, who played to standing-room-only crowds on his Dirt Tour, raised money during the excursion for the Dean Brody Foundation, which hopes to buy a mini bus to transport girls in danger to safe houses along the BR 116 Highway in Brazil. Brody, who teamed up with Terri Clark on her latest single, “Movin’ On,” the Hank Snow classic, is heading for Australia in March to play the massive CMC Rock the Hunter festival. Brody’s latest single is “Underneath the Apple Trees,” the video for which had its online premiere on cmt.ca in early February.
