ole Acquires Dream Warriors Catalog
ole is delighted to announce that acquisition of some of the most intelligent rap music ever produced - namely that of the Dream Warriors.
Founded by a pair of deft, intelligent rappers based in Toronto, King Lou and Capital Q formed Dream Warriors and released one of the finest alternative rap records of the era, 1991's And Now, the Legacy Begins. The pair began working together in 1989 and were signed to Beat Factory Productions with Rupert Gayle and Ivan Berry. The release of My Definition of a Boombastic Jazz Style became an early touchstone in the jazz-rap movement. This and the single Wash Your Face in My Sink hit the Top 20 in Britain, while in Canada the LP went gold and collected a Juno award. Four years after their debut, the duo returned with Subliminal Simulation. The band's next two albums were The Master Plan and The Legacy Continues.
According to ole Managing Partner Robert Ott "Dream Warriors is one of the most important urban rap acts to come out of North America. They were in the game early and set the bar for what was to follow. We're thrilled to have this musical legacy as part of the ole catalog."
At ole the goal is to be the home for the best songwriters, composers, management talent and intellectual property investors and the first choice music source for creators in all media.
