ole writers and associated artists came away from the 2009 CMA Week (November 10-12, 2009) in Nashville with some major hardware, bringing home one SESAC and two BMI awards, followed by multiple wins by ole-associated artists at the 43rd annual CMA Awards.
ole's CMA Awards Screening Party Tops Off A Winning Week
ole's second annual CMA Awards Screening Party was the next best thing to being on stage at the 43rd annual CMA Awards this year. The event once again drew country luminaries to the Hutton Hotel's Vista Ballroom in Nashville to watch Taylor Swift sweep up in four of the award categories.
1st Annual ole/BMG-RM euro songcamp Brings Writers to Berlin for Intensive International Collaborations
Following on the heels of the third annual ole pop+urban songcamp in L.A., four of ole's top songwriters flew to Berlin in October to take part in an intensive three-day collaborative writing session co-presented by ole and BMG Rights Management. The first-ever international event of its kind hosted by ole, dubbed Euro songcamp—after similar events held in Toronto and Los Angeles—resulted in the creation of nine new songs, with a strong potential for artist cuts and film & television syncs, and the promise of further collaborations with all participating writers.
ole/Roots Three Extend Deal With Steven Lee Olsen On The Heels Of Westlife Cut
ole's Steven Lee Olsen (via co-venture partner Roots Three Music) has landed a cut on the forthcoming Westlife album, tentatively titled Where We Are. The album is slated to feature the Olsen/Carl Falk co-write "Leaving." The Irish boy band was signed by American Idol judge and impresario Simon Cowell and has gone on to become the third biggest selling pop band worldwide and the biggest selling band of the decade (2000-2009). Olsen's cut follows the release of ole's hit song "I'm Already There," featured on the group's last album, Back Home.
Hit Writer Roger Springer Re-emerges
After decades of success writing for smash artists like Mark Chesnutt, Kenny Rogers and George Strait, ole's Roger Springer is back on a roll with several new cuts.
His co-write of "Dancing In Circles" for Nashville band Love & Theft (with band member Stephen Barker Liles and noted writer Robert Ellis Orrall) is set to go to radio in late October.

A recent agreement sees ole with an ownership stake in six songs from Michael Jackson's Dangerous album ("Jam," "Why You Wanna Trip On Me," "She Drives Me Wild," "Remember The Time," "Can't Let Her Get Away," and "Dangerous"), BLACKStreet's No. 1 hit "No Diggity" (featuring Dr. Dre) and the Bobby Brown and Britney Spears hit "My Prerogative."

ole and marblemedia have announced a worldwide administration deal. marblemedia is perhaps best known for producing the preschool hits "This is Daniel Cook" and "This is Emily Yeung", which are now airing in over 85 countries and in more than a dozen languages.

ole struck a deal with U.S. based TV & film company, MarVista, to administer and collect retransmission royalties.
Hitsville Winners Receive Single Song Deal
Winners of ole’s second annual Hitsville single song deal competition, Shane Chisholm and Ron McNeill, we’re crowned victorious at this year’s CCMA’s held in Vancouver. Their co-write of “Kickin Up Dust” has officially joined the ole roster of great songs. This is the second win for McNeill who won last year’s inaugural event for his song “Places I Ain’t Never Been,” a song cut by ole songwriter and artist Willie Mack on his 2009 album, The Journey.
ole Admins Lincoln Blache Songs on Latest Dru Album
On behalf of Lincoln Blache, ole will administer "You Got Me" and "Blind Fold", Lincoln co-writes which appeared on the latest Dru album, The One. The Dru album has recently been released in Asia and Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and will soon be released in South Africa and other territories.

Justin Forsley, The Trews, Diamond Rio Sign with ole; Tebey Renews
ole has signed new agreements with songwriter/producer Justin Forsley and recording artists The Trews and Diamond Rio and has extended an existing deal with songwriter Tebey.
SYNCS, CUTS, FOCUS TRACKS
Everything is looking up for the single "Down" by Jay Sean and featuring Lil Wayne, which hit No. 1 on the Canadian Top 40 and the Billboard Hot 100. Sean is signed to ole publishing partner Bucks Music Group of the U.K. Additional ole cuts are expected with Jay Sean on his forthcoming album to be released Nov. 24 in Canada.
R&B singer Jordin Sparks' version of "S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)" for ole was released to radio on Sept. 29. She performed the song, the second single for her sophomore album Battlefield, on VH1 Divas. Meanwhile, McDonald's is going to feature the song in 40 stores across the U.S. on its closed-circuit TV MChannel.
"Boys will be Boys," co-written by Tebey, is the next single for U.K. girl band the Dolly Rockers on EMI Parlophone. The single went to radio in mid-October.
Iconic Canadian No. 1 hit "Black Velvet," by Alannah Myles turns 20. ole has enjoyed numerous cover recordings and sync placements, and was most recently featured in a CBC documentary about the history of Canadian music.
NASCAR is getting a lot of mileage out of two versions of "My So Called Life." The song, co-published with ole partner Roots Three on behalf of cowriter Bruce Wallace, is being played during broadcasts of championship races throughout the fall. The song has been reworked with new lyrics and a new title, "My Championship Ride"; a rock version features Wallace on vocals, and a country version is sung by co-writer Sean Patrick McGraw.
Black danieL's "Gimme What You Got (Pull The Trigger) Alex Metric Remix", part of the Bucks Music Group catalog co-published by ole, has been featured in a Pedigree pet food commercial in Canada.
Canadian and Middle Eastern R&B superstar Massari will be including 15 ole songs on his new Universal album Forever Massari. The album is scheduled for release on Nov. 10.
ole writer Tebey will have a cut on a greatest-hits CD titled Just Ballade by Japanese artist Misia due out Dec. 16. The song, "Ginga," was a Top-10 single in Japan.
The platinum-edition re-release of Taylor Swift's Fearless, entitled Fearless: The Deluxe Platinum Edition, was released Oct. 27. The album features two additional ole songs: "Come In With The Rain" and "SuperStar" adding to "Fearless," "Tell Me Why," and "White Horse."
ole writer Gerald O'Brien's song "When You Can Fly," performed by Victoria Banks, was featured on the CBC family drama Heartland.

ole Continues Quest for Efficient 'Paperless' Operation
Adding further efficiency to its handling of client information in the pursuit of a 'paperless' operation, ole has initiated the use of Microsoft SharePoint.
The software houses all electronic documents in a centralized location and allows access of legacy information into a "one-stop shop" for ole creative managers, says Jennifer Correia, assistant manager of legal and business affairs.
ole’s musicnow 2.0: Majorly Updated Search Features To Easily Find the Perfect Songs for Your Projects
Since ole's launch in May of proprietary online song-search engine musicnow, many new features have been added to assist A&R and music supervisors quickly find the great songs they need.

Teen sensation Shiloh is building on her runaway 2009 successes, writing for a variety of projects, including the title track for a major motion picture in Germany. She recently performed at October's Bell Celebrity Gala in Toronto along with Grammy nominee Natasha Bedingfield. The event raised money for the SickKids Foundation. Shiloh’s current ole-penned single “I Remember” (by Rebecca Everett, Mladen and Shiloh herself), broke the Top 30 and continues to gain positions on the CHUM and Mediabase Hot AC charts. A video for the song is planned for the coming month.
Legendary Canadian rock band Lighthouse, formed in 1969, is back on the road in support of its 40th-anniversary CD and DVD featuring hits from its storied career. ole owns the band's masters and publishing interests. In stores Oct. 13 on ole/Universal Music Canada, the 16-track 40 Years Of Sunny Days features 12 remastered songs from the '70s era, including the band's two biggest hits, "One Fine Morning" and "Sunny Days." "It's hard to believe some of these songs were hits 30 and 40 years ago," says Chief Creative officer Gilles Godard. "We are proud to be part of this new awareness of the group, and we clearly see a revival of the brilliant music they have created through the years."
