"Dateline NBC" featured Taylor Swift in a one-hour special on May 31. The show featured behind-the-scenes footage of her tour for her No. 1 album "Fearless" which features the hit single "White Horse." Meantime, Swift set a pair of Billboard milestones. She is the only artist in the 25-year archival history of Billboard's airplay charts to have a song ("You Belong With Me") reach No. 5 or higher on the top country and hot 100 pop charts. And, she joined country superstars Garth Brooks and Shania Twain as only the third artist in Billboard's SoundScan era to have two albums ("Fearless" and her self-titled debut) spend at least 20 weeks at No. 1 in the top country albums sales chart. An album-release party was held June 28 in Los Angeles for recently signed ole sync/admin artist Linda Good. Good, who has had success with placements on television series such as "90210," celebrated her debut full-length "Love Is A Curious Thing" and is slated to perform at several upcoming showcases. Prior to the album's release, Good released an EP and achieved top five most-requested status on KCRW radio in Los Angeles.
Canada's National Film Board, one of ole's earliest clients, is celebrating its 75th year. ole began administering the worldwide music rights of the NFB's 11,000 hour-plus film and television programming catalogue. The five-year deal covers all NFB output since its inception in 1939, as well as any new productions created during the term of the agreement.
While making the rounds in Los Angeles, ole's new President, Michael McCarty, raised a glass with the L.A. creative team to toast the recent successes of two of the company's top writers: Steven Lee Olsen (in town from Nashville writing for the next Westlife album) and David Kopatz (enjoying the next single "S.O.S." on Jordin Sparks' latest release).
