NEWSole Taps Respected Veteran McCarty as President
ole artists and writers will benefit from McCarty's 20-plus years in the music industry-the last 15 as President of EMI Publishing Canada-during which time he's been instrumental in nurturing the careers of such successful artists as Sum 41, Three Days Grace, Wilson Phillips, Billy Talent and Moist. McCarty, a founding director of the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame, will oversee the company's day-to-day operations from ole headquarters in Toronto. "ole is a remarkably unique, fast-growing and forward-thinking company that is well positioned to thrive," McCarthy said. "I spent the first week in ole 'boot camp;' a lot of people are already approaching me with business proposals. I'm going to L.A. and Nashville at the end of July to meet all the people there and contact all the key stakeholders in the organization. I've been blown away with how together the company is, how disciplined and structured. I've heard some great songs, and with every layer I peel back, I get more and more excited for the potential of this company." "The entry of Michael as President marks a new era in the evolution of ole, and we are fortunate to add an executive of his experience and integrity to our operation," said ole Chairman and CEO, Robert Ott. "Michael is a bona fide music publisher with a real passion for songs and creative development, and we look forward to his contribution to ole's continued growth." McCarty launched his career as a recording engineer and producer with Jack Richardson, producer for The Guess Who, and Bob Ezrin, who produced legends Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper and Peter Gabriel. He honed his leadership skills during stints as creative manager at ATC Music Group Canada and A&R director at SBK Records and Publishing in Los Angeles before being named president of EMI Canada in 1992. |
