ole and Partners Win Big at Emmys, Earn Gemini Nominations
Music co-owned and co-published by ole scored impressive wins at the Sept. 20 Emmy awards, with partners WGBH and Nelvana earning top honours in numerous categories.
WGBH, the largest producer of television and on-line programming for PBS, won for Outstanding Miniseries, directing and writing for "Little Dorrit" at the Primetime Emmys. In the Creative Arts Emmys, "Little Dorrit" won for Casting, Costumes, Art Direction and Cinematography. Also, WGBH's "Between the Lions" earned awards for Outstanding Writing in a Children's Series and Outstanding Pre-School Children's Series, and its "From the Top of Carnegie Hall" received nods for Outstanding Children's Series and Outstanding Achievement in Multiple Camera Editing. Lastly, "Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie" won Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Editing. ole purchased rights to WGBH music in February 2009.
Leading children's entertainment company, Nelvana, scored a Daytime Emmy, with Canadian TV composers Anthony Vanderburgh and Don Breithaupt earning Outstanding Original Song, Main Title and Promos, for the hit animated series '6 Teen.' ole and Nelvana recently extended a deal whereby ole co-owns Nelvana music publishing property and administers all rights.
ole also stands to pick up a slew of honours at Canada's Gemini awards, which will be broadcast Nov. 14, but will include many pre-ceremony honours Oct. 19-20.
