NEWSole Earns Multiple Awards During CMA Week 2009
The festivities kicked off with a pair of BMI awards for ole songs: One for "Picture to Burn" (co-written by Taylor Swift and Liz Rose), from Swift's 2008 self-titled debut album; the other for "Trying to Stop Your Leaving" (by Brett Beavers/James Beavers, from the Dierks Bentley's 2008 album Long Trip Alone. ole also earned a SESAC award, for "White Horse"—one of three ole cuts on Swift's No. 1 album Fearless. Two additional ole songs, "Come In With the Rain" and "SuperStar, are featured on the Fearless: Platinum Edition CD and DVD released last month—bringing the total number of ole-owned songs to 13 across four albums: Taylor Swift ("Tim McGraw," "Teardrops On My Guitar," "Picture to Burn," "Tied Together with a Smile," "Stay Beautiful," "Cold As You," and "Mary's Song"); The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection ("Christmases When You Were Mine"); Fearless ("Fearless," "White Horse," and "Tell Me Why"); and Fearless: Platinum Edition (all the previously mentioned songs on "Fearless," plus "Come In with the Rain" and "SuperStar"). "ole is proud to publish the songs Liz, Brett and James have created and are thrilled they have been recognized for their achievements," says ole's Chief Creative Officer, Gilles Godard. The CMA Week's awards follow others earned by ole last year, including SESAC Awards for Swift's, "Picture to Burn," which brought home a SESAC Country Performance Activity Award and "Teardrops On My Guitar," which garnered a SESAC Recurrent Country Performance Activity Award. Also in 2008, Swift's "Teardrops on My Guitar and "Picture to Burn" earned BMI Country Song of the Year and BMI Most Performed Song, respectively. Ultimately, ole songs helped Taylor Swift to a huge night at the 2009 CMA Awards, where she earned wins for Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year (Fearless), and Music Video of the Year. ole also congratulates Martina McBride for her CMA Female Vocalist of the Year nomination; from her album Shine featuring the ole songs "Lies" and "Walk Away"(Gerald O'Brien). |
