ACQUISITIONSole To Co-Own Music for Dr. Seuss' 'The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That' TV Series
The series is based on Random House's best-selling Beginner Book franchise, The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library, which continues in the educational tradition of the original The Cat in the Hat book by Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel), regarded as a pioneering work in the field of elementary literacy and, reportedly, the ninth biggest selling hard-cover book for children in history. For the TV series, The Cat in the Hat dusts of the Thinga-ma-jigger, his magical, one-of-a-kind custom vehicle that can navigate the earth, the sky and the oceans, to transport 6-year-old best friends Sally and Nick, along with his spirited side-kicks, Thing 1 and Thing 2, on wondrous voyages of scientific discovery. "ole is now one of the largest publisher's of children's TV music in the world and we're pleased to be part of the ongoing story of perhaps the greatest and most enduring children's brand of all time," says ole CEO, Robert Ott. "We look forward to helping all the stakeholders in this situation to realize another, long-running adventure for The Cat in the Hat." Random House Children's Books is set to publish a full line of original books to support the TV series launch while Random House Children's Entertainment will oversee all licensing and merchandising. NCircle Entertainment, a division of Alliance Entertainment, is scheduled to release the first in a series of "The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That" DVDs to coincide with its broadcast premiere in the fall. |
