CO-VENTURES

Roots Three/ole Writer Steven Lee Olsen 'Knocking It Out of the Park!'

"He's killing it right now; he's knocking it out of the park," enthuses Denny Carr, Senior Director of A&R at Roots Three Music, as he ponders the recent achievements of Roots Three/ole writer Steven Lee Olsen, who has just picked up a couple of prestigious award nominations at home and abroad and has a track on the current album by one of the biggest artists in U.K chart history.

Olsen's co-write, "Leaving," is on Westlife's 10th album, Where We Are, a double-platinum seller in the U.K. and approaching a million in sales worldwide. Simon Cowell of American Idol fame, who had originally signed the band, was the album's Executive Producer. Their record of 14 number one singles in the U.K. is the third-highest in history, on a par with Cliff Richard and just short of Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Another of Olsen's co-writes, "Broken Tonight," is nominated for Best Trance Track at the 25th Annual International Dance Music Awards (IDMA) to be held during the Winter Music Conference in Miami, March 23-27. It was recorded by Armin Van Buuren, a Dutch producer and deejay who was voted number one deejay in DJ Mag's annual Top 100 vote in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and features Dutch singer, songwriter and piano player VanVelzen. The song was Top 40 in The Netherlands and has recently found its way onto the U.S. dance scene.

In Canada, Olsen is nominated for a Canadian Radio Music Award in the category of Best New Group/Solo Artist (Country) for his song, "Now." Presented by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB), the 13th Annual Canadian Radio Music Awards honouring Canada's hottest rising radio music stars, will be bestowed at a gala luncheon on Friday, March 12th at the Fairmont Royal York Toronto as part of the Canadian Music Week celebrations.

Roots Three Music is also proud to announce the appointment of its president, Ron Kitchener, as International Director on the board of the CMA (Country Music Association).
