CO-VENTURESLGP/ole Doin' Right By Their Writers on the Left Coast
According to Benjamin Chan, head of Film, TV and Game Licensing, the main strategy behind this strong push to interact with current clients and those companies that could potentially use their music is, in part, to figure out how they work… how exactly they like to receive music (physical, digital, full albums, focus tracks, pitching for specific projects or general servicing, etc.) so that they can create a seamless process for sync. "We've been energetic in letting people know that our Last Gang Publishing (LGP) writers are always open to composing for film, TV and games and that we are in the process of creating a songwriters' camp to allow various LGP singer/songwriters to collaborate and come up with new tracks," explains Chan. "This trip has also given us the chance to let them know that Last Gang Entertainment is a full service company that has music available for licensing from our records, publishing, management and distributed labels division, Last Gang Labels. In that regard, we are also providing detailed information on each writer and song of interest: the territories we control from the North American level to the world; which artists are easy 'one-stops' when it comes to label and publisher; and what fees are appropriate for us depending on the type of placement." ole worked with LGP in putting together a five-minute video presentation of LGP/ole writers which has been provided at pitch meetings with companies such as NBC Universal and Yahoo, along with a Last Gang music sampler of new and legacy writers. Other Last Gang meeting opportunities includes Activision Games, Sony Entertainment and one of the U.K.'s top music supervisors, Liz Gallacher (Cutting Edge Group.) |
