SPECIAL EVENTSole Presents Story Songs for Storytellersole's Chris Wallin, Bruce Wallace, Rick Giles and co-venture Roots Three Music's Steven Lee Olsen played a mid-day showcase at the Hotel Café in Hollywood on February 24th for an audience of studio representatives, music supervisors, film producers, record executives and reps from the performing rights organizations, who heard some great music and enjoyed a fine lunch catered by the popular Sunset Strip eatery, The Den of Hollywood. The event, themed this month as "Story Songs for Storytellers," was the fourth in an ongoing series of showcases presented by ole to support its songwriters and to expose their songs to an audience of influential entertainment industry executives, particularly those in film and television. The event is a co-presentation of music supervisor Joel C. High's, Creative Control Entertainment, a multi-faceted music supervision, consultation, live event and production company. The large cross-section of attendees included music supervisors from Format Entertainment, States of Sound, ThinkSync, Ruby Beat, Yo Gabba Gabba!; film/TV studio execs from NBC Universal, CBS/Paramount, Discovery Communications; indie film makers from Heavy Duty Entertainment, Roberts/David Films, Liberation Entertainment and Wisenheimer; as well as representatives from Disney, EMI/Capitol, BMI, NARAS, William Morris Endeavor, Nettwerk Music Group & Management and Indie 103.1, among others. Sean Mulligan, ole's General Manager for Los Angeles and Director of U.S. Film, Television & Media was delighted with the turnout and performances, commenting: "Each of our songwriters brought their 'A' game to the showcase and demonstrated their incredible abilities to captivate an audience with songs that really tell a story." Says Gilles Godard, ole's Nashville-based Chief Creative Officer: "At ole, we are proud to have had some of our music in films such as Passion Of The Christ and weekly series' like Grey's Anatomy, Beverly Hills 90210, Degrassi: The Next Generation and Dancing With The Stars, just to name a few." ole's next showcase event is already in the planning stages and will feature an evening of music from their MGM catalog with some surprise performances and new takes on classics from the 1920s through current day.
