EMPLOYEESConnie McNaughton Ushers in 'Brand' New Day at ole
"My job at ole is about building the ole brand out in Canada and around the world: seeking out sponsorship deals, perfecting the web site and helping to brand both the company and the writers themselves," explains McNaughton, who has extensive experience in managing brands, e-commerce promotion and media sales. Prior to arriving at ole, McNaughton worked as Account Manager at Marketwire, a full-service newswire partner to IR, PR and MarCom professionals. She maintained progressively senior roles afterwards with Yahoo! and Tribute Entertainment Media Group as well as Outdoor Broadcast Network (OBN), a Toronto-based media company. Notes McNaughton: "When I started there, they didn't have a national network to work with, so I helped them build that out." It was back in her days as Senior Broadcast and Promotions Executive at Yahoo! Canada in the late '90s that she first met ole Chairman/CEO Robert Ott, who was heading up BMG Music Publishing when the two companies were based on John Street in Toronto. Ford was one of McNaughton's big accounts and they ended up working together on a very successful online songwriting contest branding initiative between Ford and BMG. In 1984, before she was married and still known by her maiden name, Connie Fitzpatrick, she was the first runner-up for the Miss World title representing Canada. It was the first time a Canadian had reached that milestone. She eventually became a Regional Judge for the organization and would later take on the duties of President and CEO of Miss World in Canada, a position she held for eight years. "At the end of a couple of years, I'm hoping that I will have achieved a number of fiscal targets and contributed to the bottom line by really helping to make the ole name more well known in Canada and around the world," says McNaughton. "It's a Canadian-founded company with some awesome talent and I just think it's a fantastic opportunity." |
