Bucks/ole songcamp, featuring Island Def Jam, Hosts 35 International Songwriters to Craft a Body of great songs!

Bucks/ole songcamp, featuring Island Def Jam, Hosts 35 International Songwriters to Craft a Body of great songs!ole and U.K.-based Bucks Music Group, two of the world's largest independent music publishers, were co-hosts of a unique writing initiative to craft hit singles at the recent Bucks/ole songcamp in London (May 17-21). This effort united 35 songwriters for five-days of networking and collaboration with the goal of creating new hit material.

Island Def Jam Music Group, represented by the company's Sr. VP of A&R, Max Gousse, was the featured participant at the London songcamp and the writers focused on creating greatsongs for some of that label's top artists including Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Abraham McDonald, Jennifer Lopez and Chrisette Michelle. Among the writers at the songcamp, which was held at the Grand Prix building in Chiswick, an area of west London, were ole's Tebey, David Kopatz, Rupert Gayle and JC Smith along with Bucks Music Group's Si Hulbert, Jody Lei (Girls Aloud), Alan Eshuijs (Cascada) and Ray Hedges. Non ole/Bucks-affiliated writers in attendance included Rick Nowels (Colbie Caillat, Keith Urban), Chris Braide and Alphabeat.

"At ole, we continue to foster multi-genre international opportunities for our writers," says ole Chief Creative Officer Gilles Godard. Both ole's Qiana Conley, Creative Director, West Coast, and Elizabeth Spear, Senior Creative Manager were on hand at the Grand Prix Studios to manage the event and were available to the media. "This ole/Bucks Music Group partnership in London was an intense, artist-focused collaboration with the A&R guidance of Island Def Jam's Max Gousse, who we were pleased to have on board for the event."

"Thanks again for a phenomenal camp," Gousse imparted to the ole and Bucks Music Group organizers as the participants headed home. "I enjoyed my stay and meeting your great writers; looking forward to ongoing collaborations with your respective companies."

Over the past few years, the ole songcamps have proven to be an effective generator of great copyrights, many of which have been placed with a variety of big-name artists. ole's third annual pop+urban songcamp, held in Hollywood last year and co-presented by Foxx King Entertainment and the Musicians Institute, delivered 40 news songs in seven days. The Berlin songcamp, held last year with co-presenter BMG Rights Management, was incredibly successful. In three days, the four ole writers in attendance, along with the ten BMG writers, created nine songs, all of which have been recorded. Four of the songs appear in the German film Hanni und Nanni, which is set for a June 17th release in Germany.
