ole's Jennifer Beavis Returns from European Partners' Liaison and Fact-finding Tour
Jennifer Beavis, ole's Senior Director of Administration, has just returned from a European excursion during which she liaised with ole's sub-publishing partners in Germany, France and the U.K. and had in-depth meetings with three major performance rights organizations: GEMA/SACEM and MCPS/PRS and the Association of International Collective Management of Audiovisual Works (AGICOA), Europe's predominate collective for the retransmission rights of independent producers. While in London, she also met with Counterpoint Musical Services, royalty software and adminow co-designers.
"The purpose of this trip was to provide me with an all-encompassing understanding of rights management in Europe," explains Beavis. "It also afforded me the opportunity to highlight the issues that foreign rights holders – predominately in the film and TV publishing business – face in securing both broadcast mechanical and performing royalties, and I offered alternatives to securing that income in a more timely manner. I'm happy to report that they were open to suggestions and I will be having follow-up meetings with several of the decision-makers I met during this trip."
