ole Acquires the Balance of Canadian Hit Songwriter/Producer David Tyson's Catalogue
Having originally purchased David Tyson's share of the number one Billboard hit, "Black Velvet," in 2006 along with other available copyrights, ole has acquired much of the balance of the Canadian hit songwriter/producer's catalogue including a number of chart-topping hits from artists such as Celine Dion and Amanda Marshall.

In early June, ole writer David Kopatz was part of an online television show called If I Can Dream created by 19 Entertainment's Simon Fuller, the man behind, among many other things, the Idol shows and So You Think You Can Dance. It's the on-going story of some young folks living in a house with aspirations for stardom in various fields including music, acting and modelling.
ole Writers Rock the Soundtrack of Top Grossing German Film, Hanni und Nanni
ole writers Justin Forsley, Shiloh and Tebey are involved in four cuts from the soundtrack of the recently-released German film Hanni und Nanni, which was second in box office receipts in its first week. The movie was inspired by the Enid Blyton tale of the adventures of twin sisters at a British boarding school.
ole writer Chris Wallin, Recent NSAI Delegate in Washington, D.C., Has Three Co-Writes on Upcoming James Otto Album
It has been an eventful period for ole writer Chris Wallin, not only for his own career but also as part of his involvement in the fight for songwriters' rights, a cause long dear to his heart. He returned to Washington D.C. with a delegation from the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) to further press the case with federal lawmakers. (See accompanying pictures)

12 emerging composers from around the world are currently participating in the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' (ASCAP) 22nd annual Television and Film Scoring Workshop, which is partially supported by The ASCAP Foundation with an additional contribution from ole.

ole's Senior Creative Manager Elizabeth Spear and Senior Director Brand Management Connie McNaughton were among the 300-plus participants at the second annual Billboard and AdWeek-sponsored Music & Advertising Conference held at New York's Edison Ballroom in mid-June.
Hot Fun in the Summertime for ole and Musical Friends
Following ole's quarterly review and first quarter listening session it was time to party. As you can see by the smiling faces in the accompanying pictures, a fine get-together was had in the sunshine by the many musical friends and associates of ole who turned out in numbers to enjoy the company's annual summer party which this year was held on the patio of Toronto's Spice Route Asian Bistro & Bar, deemed one of the city's best by Toronto Life magazine.

ole and Peace Arch Entertainment Group (PEA), a leader in the production and acquisition of feature films and television programs for international distribution, have extended the publishing rights worldwide administration deal the two companies signed in December of 2007.

The Cat in the Hat ole/Random House Music Deal Takes on Global Dimensions
"The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That," the children's TV series for which ole recently signed a co-ownership deal with Random House Children's Entertainment, in association with Dr. Seuss Enterprises, for all the compositions in the series, is set to take on the world as it moves into 40 territories through Playhouse Disney channels. The series is set to premiere in North America on PBS (Sept. 6) and Treehouse (Aug. 7) as well as on ITV in the U.K.

"Broken Tonight," a co-write of ole/Roots3 writer Steven Lee Olsen was recently performed by Armin van Buuren featuring VanVelzen at the Buma Harpen Gala in the Netherlands after the world-renowned DJ/producer was honoured with the Gouden Harp award, the highest distinction a Dutch artist can receive.

As part of an on-going initiative to have ole and Last Gang Publishing writers and artists collaborate more frequently in creative writing sessions, Kinnie Star recently spent a day at ole's Toronto office with ole writer Coco Love Alcorn. The worthwhile get-together resulted in two songs, one of which is now being mixed and mastered.

Meet ole's Anna Malinski: Financial Accountant
Anna Malinski, who joined the Finance department at ole as Financial Accountant in the spring of 2009, was excited right from the start at the prospect of being associated with the creativity and dynamism of the music business, which she felt offered lots of room and potential for personal growth. Her enthusiasm has not waned in the time since.

ole Hitsource - Nashville 2010, a collaborative writing jam featuring SYCO, launched yesterday and will run until July 30, 2010 at Benchmark Sounds in Nashville. The event will see 15 songwriters connect for four days of intense songwriting as they build hit singles for one superstar artist (Joe McElderry, U.K.'s X Factor winner) and one supergroup (Westlife) under the direction of ole, one of the world's largest independent music publishers, and very special guest, Qiana Conley, Director of A&R for SYCO. Participating writers include Steven Lee Olsen, Monty Powell, Bruce Wallace, Shane Stevens, Marti Dodson, David Kopatz, Marty Dodson, Tebey, Cary Barlowe, Luke Laird and Jessi Alexander.
