ole Flaunts The Sound Of Pop With Three-Year Admin Deal

TORONTO: ole, the proudly Canadian "majorly indie" music publisher with offices in Toronto, Nashville, Los Angeles and the U.K., is pleased to announce an exclusive worldwide administration deal with Sound Of Pop Inc., a Toronto-based publishing, label and management venture co-owned by Canadian songwriters J.C. Smith and Ben Dunk.

Under the terms of the three-year agreement, ole will administer Sound of Pop's publishing and serve as a one-stop clearance centre for sync licenses.

"ole is excited to partner with J.C. and Ben not only because of their evident talent, but as well because of their passion and determination on behalf of their artists," said Robert Ott, ole co-founder and managing partner.

"This is a great fit for ole."

Founded by Peterborough native J.C. Smith in 2001, Sound Of Pop (S.O.P.) has amassed an impressive track record of film and television synch and master uses during its five-year history, with S.O.P. songs appearing in such popular U.S. and Canadian programs and DVD products as Joan Of Arcadia (CBS); Party Of Five (Sony DVD); Dawson's Creek (Sony DVD); Radio Free Roscoe; OLN's Scooter Trash and the Disney Channel film Go Figure, to name a few.

S.O.P.'s publishing imprint includes Windsor alt-rock project London Apartments' principal Justin Langlois, Toronto singer Cadence Grace and co-owner Smith.

Its management and label roster -- the latter of which is distributed in Canada by Fontana North/Universal Music Canada -- includes recent Beggar's Banquet U.K. signing London Apartments, Grace and The Voices, the new project from former Wave singer Paul Gigliotti.

"Most of our success for Sound Of Pop at this young stage has been international," says J.C. Smith, S.O.P. founder and co-director.

"What really struck us when we began discussions with Robert is his global vision for ole, one that we feel we share here at S.O.P. We're very excited about this relationship and its global potential."

Pending S.O.P. Pop projects include a new Cadence Grace album to be released in August, following the first single "Somewhere Together" which has just landed at radio. Next week, The Voices' debut single "Frozen" will be serviced to radio. A "London Apartments" EP is also scheduled for release sometime in 2006.

Recent S.O.P. synch and master uses include Augusta, Gone, the Lifetime Network Movie Of The Week and Disney Channel's Naturally, Sadie.
