Emmy-Award Winning Composer Tom Harriman Finds Creative Freedom With ole

LOS ANGELES/TORONTO: Tom Harriman, a veteran Emmy-Award winning, L.A.-based composer, songwriter, arranger, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose credits include animated series Bratz and the widely syndicated Baywatch, has signed a Creative Freedom Advance deal with Toronto-based Canadian "majorly indie" music publisher ole.

Under ole's Creative Freedom Advance program, Harriman will receive an advance and ole will administer and collect Harriman's future royalties on a worldwide basis.

"It's a very unusual deal, but it's what I'm looking for," says Harriman, who won his Daytime Emmy for scoring Days Of Our Lives and has contributed to projects from Warner Bros., Paramount Television, Goldwyn Studios, Lorimar and Disney.

"The whole business is changing and I'm hoping I've found a partner to not only make sure everything's collected and accounted for, but also one that's forward-thinking and as interested as I am in finding new opportunities and mediums to explore, such as Internet TV."

Harriman says the terms of the deal will allow him the financial flexibility to complete a number of current projects.

"I have a lot of label interest in my daughter Julia, who is 14," says Harriman. "She had a lead role in a show called Thirteen with composer Jason Robert Brown for four months that had its world premiere in Los Angeles. Now she's finished four or five commercials and has label interest.

"So this is going to enable me not only to finish that album, but I have a musical opening in 2009 in Holland as well called Soldier Of Orange. The preparation involved in a musical is just overwhelming."

Harriman's scoring and songwriting credits include such high-rated TV shows as Baywatch Nights, Popular, The West Wing, Diagnosis: Murder and -- with his TOPA Music partner Pamela Phillips-Oland -- The Sopranos.

Harriman has also worked with artists such as Phil Collins, Natalie Cole, Richard Carpenter, David Lee Roth and Japanese superstar Mari Hamada and recently produced Van Gogh By Van Eck, a concept album where one dozen of the Dutch Master Vincent Van Gogh's artworks and his life story are set to music.

Future projects include developing a musical based on the Van Eck project and the score for the upcoming film Dance Machine, produced by Crash and Gods And Monsters film producer Mark R. Harris.

For ole, the Creative Freedom Advance program marks an opportunity to establish a new relationship, provide Harriman with the capital he needs and provide timely, effective and comprehensive collection -- a company core strength.

"ole's mandate is to work with the very best songs, composition and talent from around the world," states ole Managing Partner Robert Ott.

"Tom Harriman epitomizes this level of excellence and we look forward to delivering the full capabilities of ole in his support."
