Bluestone - DAVID BRATTON
David Bratton, songwriter of “Every Praise”, the current worship anthem made popular by Bishop Hezekiah Walker’s “Azusa: The Next Generation” CD, is a true connoisseur of music. David grew up in the 2nd Baptist Church inVallejo, CA , his mother always made sure they went to Sunday school and listened to the preached Word every Sunday.
David has worked with a virtual who’s who in gospel music. “Every Praise” won Gospel Performance of the Year at the 2014 Dove Awards and holds the distinction of spending six months atop the Billboard Gospel Music Charts.
Music constantly resonated throughout young David's life. It was
actually a part of the neighborhood, down the block from where David
resided was a garage which was a practice spot for a number of well
known bands of our time, including ConFunkShun, Larry Graham and Graham Central Station and Sly and the Family Stone. David, as it were, would attend their rehearsal sessions and soak up as much knowledge as he could about the sound of making music.
David eventually moved to New York, and became part of the Timothy Wright Concert Choir, the popularity of Minister Bratton’s talent and musical attributes heightened and he was soon playing for other greats that included Edwin Hawkins, Tremaine Hawkins, Thomas Whitfield, Hekeziah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir, Andre Crouch and Yolanda Adams. He is regularly seen on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show on Black Entertainment Television and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. He has accompanied popular music legends Roberta Flack and Pattie LaBelle.
David reflects on life as a musician by saying, “I truly enjoy this life of music and serving others because God has given me a gift to give to the people of the world, to encourage others and elevate our way of life through musical messages that can transform anyone who is open to hear and hopefully be inspired. I have never known life without music and for that I am grateful and honored to serve others through this gift of music.”
